I offer fun, innovative methods of soccer training for the beginner through College-aged players.
For a short Bio click the "ABOUT" link.
I offer 'concierge' (come to your area) 1-to-1 private, small group, as well as team-specific Technical, Tactical, and Functional training sessions. After observation, evaluation, and conversation, my training sessions are customized for proper progression, and development. This will ensure what I call the "ABCDE"s of a good training environment:
Attention to detail,
Ball skills,
Challenges,
Self-Discipline, and
Enjoyment.
1-to-1 and small group training sessions are intensive, (with a focus on the 4 components of the game: Physical, Technical, Tactical, and Psychological), and rely on total player commitment to improvement or refinement.
I can conduct tactic specific training sessions, along with technical-functional training sessions for teams.
I also offer instructional Clinics for amateur, and volunteer (parent-coaches), and training clinics for Recreational Youth Soccer Leagues and their players.
Training program packages for individuals are 12-weeks, 8-weeks, 4-weeks and are based on the number of training days/week. Packages can be modified upon consultation. To ensure a 'proper (coach / player) fit' the initial training/evaluation session is always free.
All sessions will be engaging, age and skill appropriate, and results based.
"Winston is the coach that I continued to use throughout my career and I have been coached by some of the soccer greats including James Galanis. It is without hesitation that I would select a session with Winston over anyone. He was able to break down the technical aspects of my skills when I was 13 as well as 20. He was never impatient when it took me a moment to master something. He was stern and did not give many compliments to me. As a kid, I wanted to please him to get that compliment, but now as an adult I realize he understood that was my motivation so I worked extremely hard for him to notice. I just filmed a commercial for Gatorade and while I was taking hundreds of shots, I heard him saying, “Alex, when your legs are tired you must focus on your technique more. Don’t overpower the shot, stay composed, crisp and balanced.” -Alex Thomas Gatorade Athlete of Louisiana (2014, 2015), SEC Honoree (2018, 2016, 2015), SEC Tournament team (2018), LSU Top 10 Scoring Leaders
"Coach Winston was the best coach I’ve ever had. He is loving, dedicated, and inspiring. I played college soccer and I don’t think I would have ever been able to if I had not had Winston as a coach. He was my coach during my childhood years as well as my teen years- and he was great with every age. I even named my pet fish after him! He taught me so much that I am so grateful for. He also helped me with my training during my summers home from college, to stay in shape, keep up with my touch, etc. Anyone would be lucky to have Winston as a coach." -Tyler Carolyne Edell (fwd, mf), Sewanee College, TN.
“I am a forever soccer mom for 17 years now. Coach Winston was the BEST trainer for my daughter who was in the National Team Pool, Most Accomplished Player from Louisiana, and LSU standout who led the program to its first SEC Championship. Winston understands that athletes want to have success and never intentionally use incorrect technique or poor decision making. He is very demanding and sets the bar of accomplishment high without tearing down the confidence of the athlete. My daughter was training with the National Team but would purchase lessons out of her scholarship money to have Winston work with her. He is the reason she was a scoring machine; composed and breaking each play down into fractions of a second. My only negative thing to say about him is that he moved away and my younger daughter was not able to benefit from his tutelage.” - Erika Mann, Forever Soccer Mom
"Coach Winston helped me to develop the skills needed to become an elite soccer player and move on to the college level. He not only helped me achieve many accomplishments in my soccer career, but he also taught me how to mentally challenge myself and set goals for myself. I would not the the player I am today without years of training from coach Winston. He helped me develop into a great soccer player and a great person. I still continue to use his guidance and training methods while playing college soccer." - Emma Robison (fwd, mf), Springhill College, Mobile AL.
"Winston has trained teams for us that were of various age groups in both STYSA competition(Div 2) and EDDOA (Div 1) and produced great results with all. He guided and improved every player that he has coached. His tactical acumen and his unique ability to communicate individual, small group, and team tactics are, in my opinion, second to none. His ability to quickly build rapport with both the girls squads and the boys as well made a big impression on me. Our players greatly respected both his field presence and his technical ability. In a single season with our U18 Div 1 girls he greatly improved their understanding of team defense and at the same time made them much more dangerous in front of goal! It was a great season. Coach Winston is still remembered and respected by the parent coaches and players in our community with whom he interacted. I regard him as a man of great character and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their teams, players, or organization." - Coach Jeff Prouty, Texas City Soccer Club.
"Winston Lewis coached my daughter from the time she was 8 years old. She played club ball at an early age and had Winston most of those years. His teams will always be at the top of the league or battling for it. Many of his former players including my daughter went on to play four years of college soccer. Winston instilled a love for the game of soccer and for each other. There was always a good ‘team’ feeling when she played on his team. He proved successful as a local girls high school coach as well as where he was most often at the ‘fly’ in New Orleans coaching Chicago Fire club teams. His practices were tough but fun for the girls and I know my daughter had fun and learned and improved all of her soccer skills. The lessons she learned from playing on Winston’s teams will carry into her adult life." -Jan Ezzel , Parent
